The Low Down on High Heels
Date Posted: May 23rd, 2008 Posted Under: Fashion and ClothingThe presence of high heels in a woman’s wardrobe is a definite must. Some women wear it to go with their daily business attire, a lot of women wear them because they’re undeniably sexy; some wear it to boost not just their height, confidence and posture but also because they have been so used to wearing elevated footwear that their calves ache whenever they wear flats. For whatever reason or ulterior motive different women may have for wearing high heels, all women are vulnerable to the pitfalls of putting on these shoes.
Aside from the obvious pitfall of literally falling or twisting the ankle, frequent use of high heels also makes one at risk of suffering from varicose veins. In addition to being extremely painful during the cold months, varicose veins are also a nasty sight. There is no overnight cure for this condition so the best way to deal with it is to keep it from happening. Here are some useful suggestions:
After a long day in high heels, take off your shoes and give your feet their well deserved rest. It would be best to sit or lie down and put your feet up for maximum relaxation. Do not get your feet wet until after you’ve given them enough rest.
If you’re not used to wearing really high and really slim heels, try wearing elevated shoes with wide heels for maximum support. Be careful in picking your pair; try to walk around wearing the shoes you plan to buy and see to it that your feet feel relatively comfortable and your calves are not too strained before deciding on the pair.
Whenever possible, opt to wear more comfortable shoes.
