The word fashionable is usually defined as “being up to the times”; the term has been considered synonymous to descriptions like chic, stylish, in vogue, hip and cool. But on a personal, run of the mill sense, how is it defined? Does it mean that you need to have the latest products in clothing and jewelry stores? What does it really mean for an average, everyday person? One who is not confined within the glossy pages of a magazine?
Contrary to popular belief, fashion is all about comfort. Banish all complicated maxims like “Fashion over comfort.” Or its arch rival “Comfort over fashion.” In a nutshell, being fashionable is all about being comfortable with whatever it is you wear. Being fashionable is not merely about being updated with the latest trends propagated through heavy advertisement and endorsement from larger than life celebrities; the more important part entails discernment and taste.
Does it actually look good on you? Try not to concern yourself with illusions of looking as great as the models or the mannequins; try on the clothes, observe with unbiased eyes and see for yourself. Can you move around and do your daily functions freely? There is no point in wearing clothes that limit your degree of freedom, no matter how trendy they are. Is it comfortable to wear? Being comfortable with your appearance boosts your confidence. If you’re confident enough, you can pull off any look you like.

High Heels… women see this particular type of footwear in the same light as most of them view chocolates. Some think the high heels are a blessing, some think of them as a curse, some try to veer away from them while some are hopelessly stuck to their painful allure. What exactly, is up with the high heels?
The foremost and most obvious reason for wearing high heels can easily be attested by those who need the boost in their physical stature. Trading a little discomfort with adding a few inches to one’s height is a fair enough deal. Furthermore, high heels are actually a necessity for women in the corporate world or in any other profession where they are required to dress to the nines. The elevation of the heel ‘forces’ the rest of the body into a more dignified and poised posture. Surely, there is a minor discomfort, but what sort of corporate scene has none? As an offshoot from the previously mentioned rationale behind wearing high heels, some clothes are tailored to go with high heels. Business suits would never go well with flip flops or hiking boots and sandals do not usually give the get-up justice the same way a pair of high heels does.
Aside from the fact that high heels are destined to go with formal clothes, high heels are also popular because of one undeniable thing- high heels are sexy. It cannot be explained in mere words or by calculations and scientific analysis; one simply has to find the right pair, wear it with the right clothes and strut it.

While shopping, have you ever experienced seeing a particular piece of clothing and think to yourself, “Hmm, I bet this would look good on Jane.” Or, “This is something Jane would wear.”? For your friend’s choice of clothing to bring about such notions, she must have established her signature look.
Being able to create your very own signature look says a lot of positive things about you. More than building up your flair for fashion or promoting a certain style, a signature look indicates your image. A signature look is one that fits perfectly to your lifestyle. The signature look also indicates character. Having established a personal, characteristic preference in fashion speaks of confidence and poise. This means that you are completely capable of making your own choices, not just about the clothes you wear but also in other aspects. Sticking to a particular style is also an expression of your resolve; you are smart and assertive enough to make a choice and stick to it. As a professional, your signature look sends a clear message that you know what you are doing; this is an invaluable impression that invites admiration and respect, not to mention possible business associates.
The clothes you choose to wear need not be insanely expensive, you simply have to stick to the styles you want and make sure that the look you go for is appropriate for whatever the occasion. The unspoken yet primary rule here is that you must have a good fashion sense, of course.

The presence of high heels in a woman’s wardrobe is a definite must. Some women wear it to go with their daily business attire, a lot of women wear them because they’re undeniably sexy; some wear it to boost not just their height, confidence and posture but also because they have been so used to wearing elevated footwear that their calves ache whenever they wear flats. For whatever reason or ulterior motive different women may have for wearing high heels, all women are vulnerable to the pitfalls of putting on these shoes.
Aside from the obvious pitfall of literally falling or twisting the ankle, frequent use of high heels also makes one at risk of suffering from varicose veins. In addition to being extremely painful during the cold months, varicose veins are also a nasty sight. There is no overnight cure for this condition so the best way to deal with it is to keep it from happening. Here are some useful suggestions:
After a long day in high heels, take off your shoes and give your feet their well deserved rest. It would be best to sit or lie down and put your feet up for maximum relaxation. Do not get your feet wet until after you’ve given them enough rest.
If you’re not used to wearing really high and really slim heels, try wearing elevated shoes with wide heels for maximum support. Be careful in picking your pair; try to walk around wearing the shoes you plan to buy and see to it that your feet feel relatively comfortable and your calves are not too strained before deciding on the pair.
Whenever possible, opt to wear more comfortable shoes.
